THE P5+1 - PART 4, THE EU

The EU, or European Union, is not part of the P5+1; however, that has not been a disqualifier for a role in the Iran nuclear deal. Indeed, the EU has played a very strong role in hosting and participating in facilitating the deal between Iran and the rest of the world. In fact, the EU has been very proud to announce that, interestingly, it has been some of their strongest women who have been participators in the negotiations.

The Women Behind the Iran Nuclear Deal (Politico)

I say 'interestingly' because it appears that the women of the EU nations have suffered the most from the rapes and sexual assaults of Muslim migrants and Syrian refugees.

The EU consists of 28 member countries. Not all of these countries have played an active role in the Iran nuclear deal, but they have been represented by the High Representative of the EU who has acted on their behalf. Like Germany, France, and the UK, though, women and children in the individual countries of the EU have suffered rapes and sexual assaults.

Border tensions:

Because of their allegiance to the collective whole, individual EU countries have had little say about taking in Syrian refugees and Muslim migrants. Some have threatened, attempted, to build border walls, or to take strong measures against the refugees, but . . .
