Some of my favorite go-to sites have written something about winter storm Jonas. reports on the east coast blizzard

Is DC megastorm Jonas a 'gift from God'? Prophecy watchers see warning in name of blizzard

This morning Michael Snyder has posted his thoughts.

Just A Coincidence That A Historic Blizzard Named ‘Jonas’ Hit D.C. On The Anniversary Of Roe v Wade?

Here are some thoughts I want to add:

First, I think it is right to note the timing of the March for Life beginning as the blizzard was coming in.

The similarity is noted that just like the prophet Jonah was sent to the capital of the Assyrian empire, Nineveh, so winter storm Jonas was sent to our capital, Washington, D.C.

The Assyrians were noted for their absolute brutality. They were known for beheadings, dismemberments, impalings, and other cruel and barbaric means of death. Interestingly, ISIS emerged from the very same region of ancient Assyria in June 2014, and like their ancient counterparts, are also known for their beheadings, dismemberments, impalings, and other cruel and barbaric means of death.

FLASHBACK JUNE 2014: US Caught Off-Guard by Iraqi Insurgency

One of the first destructive acts of ISIS was to destroy the tomb of the prophet Jonah.

ISIS and those who support abortion have one strong trait in common, no mercy for their victims. As America (and the world, I might add) learned this past year from a series of undercover videos showing interactions with doctors and administrators associated with Planned Parenthood, Planned Parenthood apparently has no problem selling the dismembered parts of unborn children. These unborn babies have been treated no differently than the victims of ISIS -- they have been beheaded, dismembered, impaled and subjected to some very cruel and barbaric procedures. The aftermath of these procedures is so graphic, that many pro-life groups that have tried to display these photos on college campuses have been shut down and banned. It is clear from many of these photos that a small human being has been destroyed.

So as the prophet Jonah warned Nineveh, the ancient capital of the Assyrian Empire, of their cruelty, so winter storm Jonas, I believe, warned our nation of our own cruel barbarity.

Second, if there is a parallel between the prophet Jonah and the winter storm Jonas, then what is the message?

Several sites noted the meaning of Jonah's name, which means 'gift from God.' But is Jonah the 'gift from God'? or is it children?

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. --Psalm 127:3 (NLT)

And while Jonah's name appears to be important, so was his message. Jonah was told by God to go to Nineveh and 'cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.' (1:2)

Jonah resisted this command and fled to the city of Joppa where he boarded a ship bound for Tarshish. Somehow Jonah believed he could flee from the presence of the Lord this way, but that was not the case. A terrible storm arose and Jonah was thrown overboard where a 'great fish prepared by the Lord' swallowed Jonah and kept him in his belly for three days before vomiting him out on land.

Again the Lord commands Jonah to go to Nineveh, and this time Jonah complies.

So what did Jonah 'cry against it'?

Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. (3:4)

Jonah did not cry out for the city to repent. Jonah did not cry out against the wickedness of the city. Jonah did not list the reasons why the city was wicked. Jonah did not even cry out for the city to turn to God. He just said, 'In 40 days, Nineveh will be overthrown.'

Interestingly, the Assyrians (ancient ISIS) inhabitants believed this Hebrew prophet, including the Assyrian king, who proclaimed a fast (even for animals) in hopes that God would not destroy them (3:6).

And that's what happened -- Nineveh repented, and God relented.

Yes, Jonah's name and it's meaning with this storm is important, but just as important was the warning that Jonah gave to Nineveh, that in 40 days Assyria's capital city would be overthrown.

As I was preparing this post last night and thinking about Jonah and his message, I got a phone call from someone I love very dearly. This person wanted to talk to me for a few minutes about something on her mind. She told me that since Friday she had been feeling convicted that her life was going in the wrong direction, that she wasn't close to God like she used to be and felt that she had allowed things into her life that shouldn't be there. She felt like for the first time in a long time she needed to fast and pray and repent, and wanted to know if I would pray with her about some things.

Since she sometimes reads my blog and will ask me what's the latest 'connections going on out there' when we talk, I asked her if she was paying attention to the winter storm that was hitting Washington, D.C., and the east coast. She said she had heard something about it. She didn't realize the storm's name when I told her, and I told her that even though Jonah did not preach repentance, repentance was the result anyway. What interesting timing that she felt the need in her own life to make things right with God as this storm named Jonas was going up the east coast. Our phone call made me wonder how many others out there are feeling a tug on their hearts to repent and get right?

Third, am I asking if our wickedness has come up before God?  that in 40 days Washington, D.C., will be 'overthrown'?

I have no idea what, if anything, will happen in 40 days, but I believe this -- abortion is certainly wicked, so the date certainly bears watching.

Millions in this country not only believe that abortion is not killing, millions also believe that God will never judge this nation.

I beg to differ.

The Word of God begs to differ.

When America acts no differently than the ancient Assyrians or modern-day ISIS towards the powerless, and, indeed, justifies the beheadings, dismemberments, impalings, and cruel barbarity, judgment will come.

And just as the prophet Jonah marched thru ancient Nineveh warning, so did March for Life march through Washington, D.C., just as winter storm Jonas was bearing down. And just as the prophet Jonah's name means 'gift from God,' so was March for Life reminding us that children are our 'gifts from God.'

There can be no mistaking the parallels and the meanings.

Unlike the ruler of ancient Nineveh who called for a fast, our ruler, President Obama, doubled down on abortion as Jonas (and in response to March for Life)entered the city.

Today, we mark the 43rd anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling in Roe v. Wade, which affirmed a woman’s freedom to make her own choices about her body and her health. The decision supports the broader principle that the government should not intrude on private decisions made between a woman and her doctor. As we commemorate this day, we also redouble our commitment to protecting these constitutional rights, including protecting a woman’s access to safe, affordable health care and her right to reproductive freedom from efforts to undermine or overturn them. In America, every single one of us deserves the rights, freedoms, and opportunities to fulfill our dreams.”

We don't know what the 'overthrow' of ancient Nineveh would have been because of the repentance of the city, therefore, we don't know what the overthrow of our nation's capital would look like, if there would be a parallel.

As many in this nation believe, including a number of churches, God will just have to change with the times and accept abortion because it has now become part of the American dream. As Planned Parenthood tweeted recently, 'imagine a magical land where abortions are free and plentiful.'

Do not be deceived. God is not mocked. Just as surely as the blood of righteous Abel called out from the ground, so now is the blood of 58 million aborted babies calling out. Their blood is calling out from the sewer systems and landfills and furnaces to heat some cities.

Keep this mind: 40 days from January 23 is March 3.

Interestingly, on MARCH 2, the Supreme Court will be hearing an abortion case out of Texas.

Fourth, winter storm Jonas also impacted NEW YORK CITY.

So let' remember these two facts about New York City: New York City was the ORIGINAL capital city of the United States, and New York is the ABORTION CAPITAL OF THE UNITED STATES.

As noted above, we don't know what the 'overthrow' of Nineveh would have been because of the repentance of the city, but this we do know -- BOTH of our capital cities were struck by winter storm Jonas. So if the 'overthrow' of our capital city (cities) is to come, it might be a political event of some kind (Washington, D.C.), and/or an economic event of some kind (New York City). It could even be another snowstorm. The timing of abortion decisions by the Supreme Court and winter storms have occurred before.

Here is a flashback to a screenshot I saved from Daily Mail Online, March 25, 2014:

But here is another MORE IMPORTANT FLASHBACK, one that goes back SEVEN YEARS:

ON MARCH 7, 2009, David Wilkerson WARNED NEW YORK CITY of its wickedness and coming fall.

An Urgent Message

By the way, it might be a good idea to re-read the Book of Jonah in the next few days.

If you need to repent, if you need to make things right with God, I urge you to do so.
