Can you take another parallel?

John McTernan's Oct. 10 post noted this:

No wonder Washington is in chaos. Look what Obama and Kerry are trying to do to God’s covenant land, Israel! They are even trying to bring international forces on the covenant land. Events may get so out-of-hand in America, that God might bring international forces to America!

Perhaps not international forces . . . yet, but isn't it interesting that our MILITARY VETERANS, i.e. MILITARY FORCES, will be marching on Washington, D.C., October 13, in protest of Obama's barricading of THEIR war memorials?

Obama wants MILITARY FORCES to come into Israel, and instead, Obama will be getting MILITARY FORCES, a reported 1,000,000 plus, not in Israel but on his own turf, Washington, D.C., on Sunday.

In addition, McTernan notes that Obama wants Israel to give up its strategic Jordan Valley.

The Obama administration is pressing hard for Israel to give up the strategic Jordan Valley in a deal with the Palestinians . . .

McTernan also notes that Obama is wanting 90 percent of the Jews living in the West Bank to be removed from their homes.

When it comes to the West Bank, which borders Jerusalem and is within rocket range of Israel’s main population centers, Israel is expected to evacuate about 90 percent of its Jewish communities currently located in the territory, as outlined in Kerry’s plan.

As McTernan notes -- It is very possible that if Obama continues to pressure Israel to displace huge numbers of Jews off the covenant land, that huge numbers of Americans are going to be displaced. This happened in 2005 with Hurricane Katrina. . .

I have posted on this blog before, on numerous occasions, about Hurricane Katrina. I have noted before the excellent write up that Bill Koenig has on page 2 of his site about the parallels between the Gaza pullout of August 2005 and Hurricane Katrina that devastated New Orleans a few days later.

In order to keep this post length to a minimum and because I really can’t duplicate Koenig’s efforts, I strongly suggest that you read his write-up if you have not done so before now.

Now, back to McTernan.

McTernan tells us in his post that 90 percent of the Jewish communities in the West Bank are to be evacuated and Israel is to give up its strategic Jordan Valley.

The West Bank is an area of land located on the west bank of the Jordan River, and the Jordan River runs through the Jordan Valley. Though the article referenced by McTernan refers to the Jordan Valley as the Jordan Valley it is more specifically called the Jordan Rift Valley.

A rift valley is a specific kind of valley -- it is a valley formed as the result of a geologic fault. It is formed when two areas of land pull away from each other -- the two sides are separating.  There is often movement, sometimes obvious, sometimes subtle, sometimes frequently, sometimes not, but there is movement at some time.

The most famous rift valley in the world is the beautiful yet very tough one in Africa. It is dotted with volcanoes and frequent earthquakes. Anthropologists often conduct research in this particular rift valley as they believe that it is where the world’s earliest peoples developed from. The Jordan Rift Valley in Israel happens to be an extension of this African rift valley.

The United States just so happens to have a rift valley as well. No, not the Grand Canyon, which is a kind of valley, but not a rift valley. The New Madrid Seismic Zone is in the heart of a rift valley. This is the zone that released three powerful earthquakes (with thousands of strong aftershocks) in 1811-1812, with the most powerful earthquake believed to be about 8.6.

The earthquake activity roughly parallels the Reelfoot rift, an ancient break in the Earth's crust. Millions of years ago the crust began to pull apart, or rift, but failed to break completely as happens when new plate boundaries form. Instead, a long shear zone of intense faulting formed. Today the crust is being compressed in the direction shown by the arrows. Much of the seismic zone is buried beneath the Mississippi embayment (darker green area), a trough filled with sediments that may greatly amplify earthquake shaking.

You can see the label of Reelfoot Rift on this map right beside Little Rock.

About the NMSZ and the Reelfoot Rift:

The New Madrid Seismic Zone is made up of reactivated faults that formed when what is now North America began to split or rift apart during the breakup of the supercontinent Rodinia in the Neoproterozoic Era (about 750 million years ago). Faults were created along the rift and igneous rocks formed from magma that was being pushed towards the surface. The resulting rift system failed but has remained as an aulacogen (a scar or zone of weakness) deep underground. Another unsuccessful attempt at rifting 200 million years ago created additional faults, which made the area weaker. The resulting geological structures make up the Reelfoot Rift, and have since been deeply buried by younger sediments. But the ancient faults appear to have made the rocks deep in the Earth's crust in the New Madrid area mechanically weaker than much of the rest of North America.

This weakness, possibly combined with focusing effects from mechanically stronger igneous rocks nearby, allows the relatively small east-west compressive forces that exist in the North American plate to reactivate old faults, making the area prone to earthquakes.

Since other rifts are known to occur in North America's stress environment but not all are associated with modern earthquakes, (for example the Midcontinent Rift System that stretches from Minnesota to Kansas), other processes could be at work to locally increase mechanical stress on the New Madrid faults. Stress changes associated with bending of the lithosphere caused by the melting of continental glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age, has been considered to play a role, as well as downward pull from sinking igneous rock bodies below the fault. It has also been suggested that some form of heating in the lithosphere below the area may be making deep rocks more plastic, which concentrates compressive stress in the shallower subsurface area where the faulting occurs. There may be local stress from a change in the flow of the mantle beneath the NMSZ, caused by the sinking Farallon Plate, according to one model.

When epicenters of modern earthquakes are plotted on a map, three trends become apparent. First is the general northeast-southwest trend paralleling the trend of the Reelfoot Rift, in Arkansas, south of where the epicenters turn northwest. This is a right-lateral strike-slip fault system parallel to the Reelfoot Rift.

The second is the southeast to northwest trend that occurs just southwest of New Madrid. This trend is a stepover thrust fault known as the Reelfoot Fault, associated with the Tiptonville dome and the impoundment of Reelfoot Lake. Epicenter locations on this fault are more spread out because the fault surface is inclined and dips into the ground, towards the south, at around forty degrees. Slip is towards the northeast. Motion on this fault in the 1811–1812 series created waterfalls on the Mississippi.

The third trend, extending northeast from the northwestern end of the Reelfoot Fault is another right-lateral strike-slip fault known as New Madrid North.

In a report filed in November 2008, the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency warned that a serious earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone could result in "the highest economic losses due to a natural disaster in the United States," further predicting "widespread and catastrophic" damage across Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and particularly Tennessee, where a 7.7 magnitude quake or greater would cause damage to tens of thousands of structures affecting water distribution, transportation systems, and other vital infrastructure.[22] The earthquake is expected to also result in many thousands of fatalities, with more than 4,000 of the fatalities expected in Memphis alone.

The potential for the recurrence of large earthquakes and their impact today on densely populated cities in and around the seismic zone has generated much research devoted to understanding in the New Madrid Seismic Zone. By studying evidence of past quakes and closely monitoring ground motion and current earthquake activity, scientists attempt to understand their causes and recurrence intervals.

In October 2009, a team composed of University of Illinois and Virginia Tech researchers headed by Amr S. Elnashai, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), considered a scenario where all three segments of the New Madrid fault ruptured simultaneously. The report found that there would be significant damage in the eight states studied – Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee – with the probability of additional damage in states farther from the NMSZ. Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri would be most severely impacted, and the cities of Memphis, Tennessee and St. Louis, Missouri would be severely damaged. The report estimated 86,000 casualties, including 3,500 fatalities; 715,000 damaged buildings; and 7.2 million people displaced, with 2 million of those seeking shelter, primarily due to the lack of utility services. Direct economic losses, according to the report, would be at least $300 billion.

I DO NOT KNOW when the New Madrid will release a large quake but this I do know -- we are forcing Israel to remove 90 percent of its population from their West Bank, meaning the West Bank of the Jordan River, which is inside of a RIFT VALLEY. We have a RIFT VALLEY right here in the U.S. known for releasing powerful earthquakes, which if a strong one released today, could displace 7 million people with an estimated 86,000 dead. With Katrina the number displaced in New Orleans to the number displaced in Gaza was 1000 to 1.

In an August 6 post (THE UNCANNY DATE CHOSEN), I wrote the following concern: If 9,000 forced from their homes in the Gaza pullout resulted in 1,000,000 citizens forced to flee their homes here in the U.S., from Hurricane Katrina, then what could be the next number of citizens forced from their homes here? Nine times as many? Isn't 9,000,000 an unfathomable number? Would we have another Katrina? Or could it be a massive earthquake?

Could we be at the door of the unthinkable?

A number of pastors and evangelists and prophets have said that they see great trouble coming to the U.S. dollar (some even seeing it become worthless) followed by a great New Madrid earthquake, and it will be because we have touched the apple of God’s eye -- Israel, and more specifically, Jerusalem. I have added my own conviction of this series of events in numerous posts.

Right here, right now, the U.S. dollar is being severely rattled because of the current standoff between President Obama and Republican members of Congress.  Fears over the full faith and credit of the United States have been in the news every night since the government shut down October 1st. At the same time Obama is sending Secretary John Kerry to pressure Israel into evacuating a tremendous number of Jewish citizens from their homes on the west bank of a rift valley.

Never before have so many prophetic markers lined up.

I am not advocating fear nor panic but prayer and watchfulness for only Our Father, which art in Heaven, knows what is His will for each and every person because I sure don’t. I don’t give advice on where to live or what survival supplies you should have in your home because that’s not my place. How God would have a family of five in Ohio prepare for such a horrific event would most likely be different than for a young couple with a six-month-old baby in Tennessee, or an elderly grandma and grandpa in Arkansas.

If the parallels between Gaza and New Orleans are an example, then I truly strongly believe we should be aware of the current parallels between demands being made in Israel over a strategic rift valley and a strategic rift valley here in America.

And lastly, could the sinkhole in southern Lousiana play a role with a New Madrid earthquake -- either in the causation or in the aftermath in some way? Again, I do not know, but something is going on down there in Bayou Corne.

Here is yet another report on the incredible amount of methane building near the sinkhole.
