The Iranians will be meeting with what is called the P5+1 in Geneva today to discuss the nuclear program that they don't want to give up and the U.S. isn't particularly interested in making them do so. Israel is calling for those nations who are part of the P5+1 to toughen sanctions against Iran. Bet they get right on that.

China's recent comments about the U.S. dollar has prompted a post at ZeroHedge asking how much longer can we expect the dollar to remain the reserve currency.

MoneyNews also has an article about a "rare rebuke" from the G20 that the U.S. needs to stabilize its fiscal house.

Global finance chiefs demanded the U.S. take “urgent action” to resolve the political logjam threatening to trigger a default of the world’s benchmark debt.

I have posted the following YouTube before but want to repost as I think it is worth noting that barely 45 seconds into this fictional scenario, it is statements out of China and from the G20 that signal the dollar's collapse. At 4 minutes in, the Tea Party is blamed for the economic collapse.

See any parallels to what has been going on with the Obama administration for the past 15 days?

Dumitru Duduman said something interesting April 1996:

"When America goes to war with China, the Russians will strike without warning."

If Duduman is correct, we are going to antagonize China at some point -- perhaps over the dollar?

And The Telegraph isn't asking if the dollar's currency reserve status in in decline but flat-out stating it.

The sun is setting on dollar supremacy, and with it, American power

Louisiana Sinkhole Bugle is noting the interesting timing of an earthquake drill in Fema Region X on October 17th, the same day as the debt ceiling D-Day.

Region X includes Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.

We don't usually see lengthy articles or transcripts that involve the P5+1 group, which consists of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council (the U.S., Russia, China, the United Kingdom and France) and the "+1" is Germany, so it will be unlikely that we will learn much of what is discussed in this meeting. They will, however, be discussing Iran's nuclear program and Israel's security, which is interesting as the group won't include Israel in their discussions. At any rate, the debt ceiling is within 48 hours of the meeting, so I believe it bears watching.

And I was really saddened to read this article.

Feds Removed Handles From 40 Public Water Pumps Along C and O Canal

The article offers a couple of explanations as to why the handles were removed but it is fairly clear that the government shutdown is part of the blame. I am reminded of the verse in Mark 9 that says that "whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward." For an administration that claims that the current fight over Obamacare is about caring for the poor, it seems rather hypocritical to remove water handles so that some people cannot even get a cupful of water and justify it as necessary.
